On another note, Ashley is a very talented hair stylist at Doll House Saloon. A few weeks before my daughter was born she dolled me up with a fresh new look, and made me feel all pretty again. She took amazing care of me and I can’t wait to let her style my hair again.

This Nestldown wedding still has me smiling. If you love wildflower bohemian bouquets, long garlands of greenery, flower crowns,  and fairy dresses on flower girls this wedding will inspire you. Nestldown weddings often remind me of fairytales and that is exactly how I felt after photographing this wedding.

I loved getting to know Mike and Tierney for this destination wedding. Tierney is gentle and fierce, loving and peaceful, and very encouraging to everyone around her. As for Mike, he was pretty awesome too. I was inspired by his act of love and his perseverance in pursuit for his bride. Together they make an amazing team and I am confident that they will continue to bring light and love to those around them.

I am so excited to share this Santa Cruz Bohemian Engagement. I was thrilled when I started working with this couple on their vision for the shoot. They wanted a fall themed venue with a bohemian twist. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect location than the persimmon trees in the Nestldown Orchard. The persimmon trees only change color for a few short weeks out of the year so timing was crucial, and we couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect day. The colors of the leaves created a beautiful confetti from the sky to the ground, Brittany looked spectacular in her lace dress and flower crown, and Nestldown graciously offered one of their horses. Fall engagement sessions are is my favorite season to photograph.

Tacos, Pinatas, and tequila, oh my….this fiesta themed rehearsal dinner was a perfect match for the hacienda at Holman Ranch.  I rarely do rehearsal dinners but after this one I realized I am missing out on so much fun. Kyle and Alissa traveled all the way from Texas to plan their destination wedding at Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley. Since they had already had an engagement shoot in Paris they opted to do a rehearsal dinner shoot instead of a second engagement session. Let me tell you this was quite the PARTY. They had just over 190 guests at their wedding and 140 for those guests attended the rehearsal dinner as well. The dinner was a perfectly themed mexican fiesta filled with pinatas, sombreros, mariachi band, homemade tequila tasting, authentic mexican dancers, a taco bar and so much more. There was also just enough time to steal them away for a few sunset pictures on the property.

When my husband and I started brainstorming ideas for our honeymoon lots of locations were discussed. We knew we wanted an adventure, we knew we wanted to immerse ourselves in a different culture, but other than that we had no limits. After many discussions we decided that we wanted to use part of our honeymoon as a way to give back and better our world. We saw this as an opportunity to root our marriage in a foundation of helping others. After some research we came across the idea of partnering with living waters, a non profit, that invites groups of people to immerse themselves in remote and developing countries by providing clean water by digging wells. We chose our honeymoon adventure in the small village of El Salvador. Par Elita Paraiso was a last village on the end of a long dirt road. Everyday our team was driven to the village,  dropped off on the dirt road and crossed a stream before we would arrive at our destination. For seven days we worked and got our hands dirty. Jeff worked on the digging team while I spent much of my day teaching hygiene to the woman and children, cooking for the team, and taking pictures of the kids playing. By the end of the trip I was able to give almost every child a printed picture of themselves. It seemed like a small token to me but for a child growing up in such remote poverty, it was something they had never seen before and it was treasured. At the end of our journey in Par Elita Paraiso we left with full hearts. We worked, we prayed, we educated, we played. We built relationships with the village and learned about the people. When we began our journey we entered with open hearts ready to serve and in the end we left with so much more.

Living Waters

Living Waters is a non profit organization designed to developing countries with the access to clean water, hygiene, sanitation, and sustainability. Every year hundreds of new wells are being built in the Central America and around the world. Visit Living Waters for more info and how to help.
