Nestldown is a breathtakingly beautiful wedding venue located in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Photographing the lush greenery and enchanting forest surroundings make it my favorite venue in California. As a wedding photographer, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to capture the magic of Xing and Yu’s Nestldown fairytale wedding.

Yu was a vision in her flowing, lace gown. The ceremony was filled with love, laughter, and a few happy tears, and I was honored to be a part of it. After the ceremony, the Xing and Yu and their guests made their way to the reception, where they enjoyed an amazing meal on the great lawn, and danced the night away in the barn. The barn reception was beautifully decorated with strings of lights and flowers, creating a magical atmosphere that was just perfect for this Nestldown fairytale wedding.

As a Nestldown wedding photographer, I love to capture all of these special moments and create lasting memories for the couple. I used a variety of photography techniques, including natural light, candid shots, and posed portraits, to create a visual story of their special day. I love photographing at Nestldown

Your wedding day is one of the most special and memorable days of your life, and you want to make sure that sure that every moment is captured beautifully. In this blog post, I will guide you on maximizing your wedding photos at Nestldown Venue.

Communicating a Clear Timeline for Your Wedding Day

Having a clear and well-communicated timeline for your wedding day is essential for capturing all the special moments and maximizing your wedding photos at Nestldown. The SEM team at Nestldown work hard with every client to create the best timeline for your day. Share this timeline with your photographer. It will help your photographer guide you throughout the day.
Consider the natural light at Nestldown, and plan your photo session accordingly. Golden hour, which occurs just before sunset, is a perfect place to do pictures in the Nestldown Orchard. The sun sets earlier in the redwood chapel area so pictures in that area are better earlier in the day. This can all be incorporated into your timeline
Make sure to communicate any important details, such as the first look, family photos, and formal portraits, to your photographer so they can be prepared and ready to capture these special moments. Knowing these details will help the photographer choose the best locations to capture these special moments.

Utilizing the Stunning Landscapes and Light at Nestldown

Take advantage of the natural light and stunning landscapes at Nestldown. Make sure that your photographer knows the sun pattern for the time of year you are getting married. Nestldown is a large property and knowing how the sun will set will help your photographer move you around the property efficiently. I have photographed over 100 weddings at the property and I am very familiar with the grounds, and how the light filters through the trees.

Redwood Nestldown Wedding | Nestldown Photographer

I absolutely adored working with Andy and Krista and celebrating their Redwood Nestldown Wedding. Their celebration was filled with joy and spoke to the heart that “love is love. “

Towering trees at this Redwood Nestldown wedding surrounded Andy and Krista during their first look, but the true magic was in the joy when they first saw each other. Andy and Krista’s first look was one of my favorites to document. The surprise and the beauty that they have for each other speaks volumes. I loved Krista’s reaction to Andys dress and all the emotion they shared. It was true magic.

We had a blast exploring the trails and forrest at this Nesldown Redwood Wedding and I had so much fun photographing these two brides laughing in the sun soaked forrest.

This is my second Catholic- Indian Wedding at Nestldown and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. I am absolutely honored that my clients have chosen me to share their memories.

Nestldown Wedding

I have been photographing weddings at Nesltdown for over 10 years and it is still my favorite location in Santa Cruz, California. Not only does it hold a special place in my heart as it is where I said my “i do” 9 years ago, I just love being under the canopy of redwoods. The outdoor wedding venue is constantly changing in every season and the venue itself always has new hidden locations and trails to be explored. The artist in me can barely hold myself back when I see the light shinning through the majestic redwood trees.

Indian Wedding Photography

The Baraat Indian Ceremony is one of my favorite ceremonies to photograph. It’s usually during the middle of the Barat when I am surrounded by beautiful colors, music, and dancing that I am filled with gratitude that I have such an amazing job. The Indian ceremony Barat of Nirmal and Allison took place in downtown San Jose, close to where I went to school at San Jose State. I remember walking the same streets that they danced on as a young photojournalism student dreaming of photographing such an event. I could not be more grateful to share such a wonderful day.

Nestldown Wedding Photography | Wedding Photography in Santa Cruz

Nestldown redwood wedding

This Nestldown Wedding was truly a dream. There is something so grand about choosing forever under the towering redwood trees. The Santa Cruz mountains will forever hold a place in my heart as it was where I started my photography career. It is such a blessing to return to the magnificent trees for a day of wedding photography.

The trees mixed with the soft pink bouquets was a beautiful combination, but nothing compared to the love and support that was poured out on the bride and groom for their wedding. Matt and Inga share a strong friendship and love for each other. They share a love for art and adventure and I am so glad that they chose me their wedding photography. I loved every part of their day at Nestldown, especially Inga’s flowing dress as she twirled through the redwoods. For a quick look back at their engagement photos click here.

Nestldown Redwood Wedding | Amish and Alli

When two cultures collide in unity and love magic happens. Amish and Alli’s Nestldown redwood wedding was just that. They seamlessly fused an Indian celebration with a Catholic ceremony and it was perfect. I loved how they honored their two cultures and brought every one together in a giant celebration. The day started with a Baarat. The groom danced with his guests while riding a horse. They escorted everyone down to the chapel at Nestldown for a Indian ceremony under a beautiful decorated Mandap. The ceremony ended with traditional vows and Catholic priests blessing on the marriage. I was honored to be a part of their day and see how both their families embraced them with love and support as they begin to build their lives together.

Nestldown Wedding Photographer | Rob + Anna

This Nestldown wedding gave me all the feels. Just when I thought Nestldown couldn’t get any more perfect, I discovered a new secret spot at the venue and fell in love with it all over again. I love redwood weddings and when the sun is pouring through the trees with radiant light beams I just cant stop smiling. The best part was that Rob and Anna were just as excited for the adventure. I loved working with Rob and Anna. They compliment each other perfectly both in life and love. I knew I was in for a treat when they hired me for their wedding after I photographed their engagement session at 4 mile beach. Together with Robs family they carted an entire teepee and boho set up to the beach along with signs, giant balloons and even an air compressor. Jeff and Zoe’s Nestldown Wedding was yet another reminder why I feel so blessed to have this job. I am completely honored and humbled that my brides choose me to photograph their love and commitment and all the special bonds with their family. Zoe may be one of the happiest brides I have seen, fully embracing every moment of her day and the people around her. I loved how her smiled glowed and I couldn’t get enough of her flowing dress spinning in the redwood trees at Nestldown. They chose bright pinks and orange flowers to contrast with the green redwoods.

Thank you to a wonderful team that made this day so amazing.

Nestldown wedding photography

This Nestldown Wedding was nothing short of a modern day fairytale. I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful day than this Nestldown wedding. Nestldown is a private estate located in the Santa Cruz Mountains and it is my favorite location for wedding photography. Towering trees with sun bursts of light, a private barn, and lots of room to explore. I love outdoor wedding photography but Nestldown in particular has my heart.

Wedding Photography with a modern day fairy tale twist

Seth and Brittany’s was a perfect compliment to the whimsical and woodland venue. They had mix-matched table settings filled with colorful goblets, vintage plates, flowing flowers, lantern escort cards, stumps, and green moss. But the real magic of the day came from the love that they poured into each other and their guests. They were blessed with so much love and support from friends and family it radiated around them the entire day. There was not a dry eye in the ceremony after Seth and Brittany did the butterfly release and one of the butterfly’s flew from Brittany’s hand to the sign on the chair reserved and honoring her mother. It was this magic that followed them the entire day and truly made their wedding photos at Nestldown a true fairy tale.
